Description: “Champions don’t wait for opportunities, they create them” In lieve of the Ruby Jubilee celebration on December 05, 2023, St. Peter’s School and College presented a culmination of “Annual Athletic Meet and P.T. Display” themed “Ek Pahal”, “An Initiative” fostering creativity, togetherness, prowess, creating harmony in the society and sportsman spirit for our champs. The proceedings of this auspicious day was commenced with the arrival of the esteemed chief Guest, Most Rev. Dr. Louis Mascarenhas, Bishop of the diocese of Allahabad and the Guest of Honour, Dr. Bhawana Srivastava, PCS, Senior Treasury officer, Raebareli. The chief Guest, the Guest of Honour and the dignified guests accompanied by our principal Rev. Fr. Reginald D’Souza, Rev. Sr. Susheela Remi, Mr. Francis Rego, Mr. Ashish Srivastava, Mr. Rajesh Singh and Miss Monika were escorted to the dais with reverence by the school cabinet and the captains of the various Houses. The meet began with a symbolic moment, “lighting the ceremonial lamp” being followed with a “prayer”. Then, the Chief Guest, Most Rev. Dr. Louis Mascarenhas, the Guest of Honour, Dr. Bhawana Srivastava and the esteemed dignitaries were formally introduced by Mrs. Rekha Srivastava. Thereafter, Rev, Fr. Reginald D’Souza, our principal extended floral tribute to our chief Guest and officially greeted the dignified guests with a posy of fragrant flowers and Rev. Sr. Susheela Remi, our Head mistress extended floral welcome to Dr. Bhawana Srivastava. The cabinet, the flag bearers and the squads (Blue, Red, Gold, Green) rendered salute to our Chief Guest, Most Rev. Dr. Louis Mascarenhas during the majestic March Past- as he witnessed the retreating March Past. The school flag was being hoisted by our Chief Guest being followed with the resounding rendition of the School Anthem. Then, the responsibility of representing all the students of the school fell on the shoulders of the school Athletic Captains (Sankalp Chitravanshi and Anya Tripathi) who administered the oath in true faith and allegiance. The “Flambeau Relay” symbolic of peace, hope, and harmony and sportsman spirit was passed from Sankalp (Athletic Captain) to Sumit Singh (Athletic Vice Captain) who handed it over to Satakshi, the champion of Swimming, Badminton, Athletics (district level) and finally to Anya Tripathi (Athletic Captain), thereafter lighting the cauldron marking the commencement of the event and the declaration of the the Annual Meet open by the honourable Chief Guest, Most Rev. Fr. Louis Mascarenhas, the Gishop of the Allahabad Diocese. The little angels too made a strong appeal to the Lord for the smooth functioning of the event through their invocation by action. Commendable events like 100 mts. Sprints, 200 mts. Sprints, epitomized the fusion of speed and endurance making the event thrilling sprints in track and field. 4X100 mts. Inter House Relay had the audience watching with bated breath. Cultural Legacy was kept up by the four Houses presentations. Winners of Sprints, 4X100 mts. Inter House Relay, Collage, Individual and Team Sports, ICSE and ISC toppers (District Level) were felicitated. The smile on the faces of the winners, disappointment on the faces of the ones who could not win, tussle on the track, track umpires vigilance, marshals spirit to control the crowd, proud mentors giving away the prizes sports teachers on their toes to discharge their duties and few unsung heroes charged for their duties were the momentous moments of the day. The four houses battled on the field to grab the championship and the best Houses trophy. The Guest of Honour in her speech focused on the importance of physical and mental fitness, Stamina, endurance and above all being a good human being. The Chief Guest focused on “there are no failures but, gainers” in his address December 05, 2023 marked the remarkable achievement by St. Johns House (Blue House) in the holistic year 2023-24. 1- Blue House bagged trophies and shields. 2- Collage Winner Trophy. 3- Best Disciplined House Trophy. 4- Cock Shield Winner. Hats off to BLUE HOUSE Mass Drill and Tug-O-War were the catchy thrilling events of the day. Finally the Athletic Meet/Sports Day concluded with the Chief Guest of the ceremony declaring the Meet close by lowering down the school flag solemnly. “Vote of Thanks” expressing gratitude to all those who worked fearlessly to make the mega event possible and all those who witnessed the event was proposed by Ashi Srivastava, the school Head Girl. The proceeding concluded with a harmonious rendition of “National Anthem”.
